Both boats close throughout, exchanging the lead many times. The right side of the course certainly paid. Costanzo got inside Mackay at the final downwind gate and from there it was her race. Mackay got a huge puff and flew down to the finish line up on one hull, hunting Costanzo but it was too late. Race 1 goes to Costanzo.
