For the first time in 2018, the World Match Racing Tour heads to the USA for Newport Match Cup. An area with a hugely rich history in delivering world-class sailing, Newport has hosted Americas Cup matches, Volvo Ocean Race stopovers, countless class World Championships and of course in 2016 the World Match Racing Tour.
Newport, and in particular the New York Yacht Club, is used to hosting the M32 catamarans as a regular stopover in the M32 North America summer series. However, match racing in these high-performance catamarans is a different type of entertainment.
The event will be hotly contested as teams fight for just two invitations available to GKSS Match Cup Sweden, a highlight among sailors on the World Match Racing Tour championship level circuit. GKSS Match Cup Sweden runs July 4th-8th on Gothenburg’s archipelago island of Marstrand.
