This yearโ€™s lineup blends seasoned champions with rising stars, setting the stage for another unforgettable battle for one of sailingโ€™s most coveted titles, the Congressional Cup and Crimson Blazer. Defending champion Eric Monnin from Switzerland returns to Long Beach for his twelfth challenge of the event, aiming to repeat his teamโ€™s breakthrough victory of the Cup last year, marking Monninโ€™s first ever World Match Racing Tour championship event win. He will face some of the sportโ€™s most accomplished skippers, including the remarkable and seemingly ageless Ian Williams from Great Britain, a nine-time World Match Racing Champion and five-time Congressional Cup winner. *BACK-TO-BACK TOUR POINTS CHAMPION* At the WMRT F *BACK-TO-BACK TOUR POINTS CHAMPION* At the WMRT Final in Shenzhen, China, USA's Chris Poole/ Riptide Racing was awarded the overall 2025 WMRT Points Championship for the second consecutive year, presented to the skipper/team with the highest points counting their top four results over the course of the season ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ After finishing third at the inaugural Macao Match Cup in January '25, Poole went on to finish second at the '25 Long Beach Congressional Cup, narrowly defeated in the final by Switzerland's Eric Monnin and his Capvis Swiss Match Race Team claiming their first win of the popular Long Beach event. To the US Grand Slam events and Poole and team picked up a 5th place at the Oakcliff International in New York before going on to finish 2nd at his home club's Thompson Cup at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club.
