*BACK-TO-BACK TOUR POINTS CHAMPION* At the WMRT F *BACK-TO-BACK TOUR POINTS CHAMPION* At the WMRT Final in Shenzhen, China, USA's Chris Poole/ Riptide Racing was awarded the overall 2025 WMRT Points Championship for the second consecutive year, presented to the skipper/team with the highest points counting their top four results over the course of the season 👏👏 After finishing third at the inaugural Macao Match Cup in January '25, Poole went on to finish second at the '25 Long Beach Congressional Cup, narrowly defeated in the final by Switzerland's Eric Monnin and his Capvis Swiss Match Race Team claiming their first win of the popular Long Beach event. To the US Grand Slam events and Poole and team picked up a 5th place at the Oakcliff International in New York before going on to finish 2nd at his home club's Thompson Cup at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club. Two podium finishes (3rd) at the Bermuda Gold Cup in October and the WMRT Final in Shenzhen China gave Poole a total 177pts for the season with 135pts counting to the leaderboard, ahead of GBR's Ian Williams on 116pts and Sweden's Johnie Berntsson 114pts. 2025 WMRT Overall Points Championship 👏👇 1. After trading early wins, the eight-time World Match Racing Tour champion shut the door in the pre-start and controlled the series when it mattered most. The day was defined by patience, precision, and unpredictability – ultra-light winds delayed racing until 3:45pm, and then sailors traded tacks until sunset, finishing out their last matches as the sun dipped below the Shenzhen horizon. The remaining semi-final between Sweden’s young wonder Oscar Engström and USA’s Chris Poole is locked at two wins apiece and will be decided tomorrow.
