"MY DREAM WAS TO GET ON TO THE WORLD TOUR AND JUST "MY DREAM WAS TO GET ON TO THE WORLD TOUR AND JUST RACE ON IT - TO WIN IT IS A PRETTY BIG DEAL," Adam Minoprio, NZL #WMRT25 moments - Throwback to when New Zealand's Adam Minoprio, 24, underlined his status as a future match racing star when he and his BlackMatch crew of (pictured left to right Tom Powrie, Adam Minoprio, Nick Blackman, Dan McLean and Dave Swete won the WMRT Match Racing World Championship in 2009 at the Monsoon Cup Malaysia in Kuala Terrenganu. Minoprio and crew sealed the title after the quarter-final stage of the regatta when his closest rival, Australia's Torvar Mirsky, was knocked out by compatriot Peter Gilmour. Minoprio went on to secure the event double winning the Monsoon Cup event as well, defeating Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie of Great Britain 3-0 in the final. STAGE SET FOR FINALS SHOWDOWN IN MARSTRAND Marstr STAGE SET FOR FINALS SHOWDOWN IN MARSTRAND Marstrand, Sweden (4 July 2025) – With just one day to go at the 2025 GKSS Match Cup Sweden and Nordea Women’s Trophy, the stage is set for a thrilling finale in both the Open and Women’s classes. Seven-time winner of the event Björn ‘Master of Marstrand’ Hansen once again showed his teams experience to secure their spot in tomorrow’s final, defeating Oscar Engström 3-1 in a tense semi-final. Denmark’s Jeppe Borch joins Hansen in the final after winning over local favourite Johnie Berntsson 3-2 in their semi-final match. In the Nordea Women’s Trophy, women’s match racing world champion Pauline Courtois/ Match in Pink from France leads Sweden’s Martina Carlsson/ Beyond Sailing Team 2-0 in the first-to-three points match.
