The “2025 Macao International Regatta” will be held from January 8 to 12, 2025, in Macao. The event will feature three competitions: the Macao Match Cup (with 12 teams), the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Cup (with 9 teams), and the Lotus Cup (with 9 teams), attracting around 200 athletes from various countries. The regatta aims to develop maritime sports activities, enrich local sporting events, and strengthen Macao’s position as an international tourism and leisure center.
The Macao Match Cup is a new event within the “Macao International Regatta,” serving as a championship-level event and the opening race of the 2025 WMRT season. Competitors will use FarEast 28R match racing sailboats to compete for the championship, with a total prize of USD 100,000. The race will take place in the waters off the Macao Science Center, allowing spectators to watch from the shore. Hosting this event in Macao will help elevate the level of sailing competitions in the region.
