JEFFREY PETERSEN
Jeffrey was born and raised in Southern California and grew up sailing in Newport Beach, CA at the Balboa Yacht Club at the age of 5. He has
competed around the world representing the United States and the Balboa Yacht Club in several international youth and open championships. Jeffrey has been match racing for over 5 years, while also competing at the highest levels of dinghy sailing, and offshore racing.
Jeffrey founded Golden State Match Racing in 2019 as a campaign to get to the World Match Racing Tour and to compete in the Congressional Cup with a youth team. The team has an average age of 22 years old and aims to compete at the highest levels of match racing. The team’s primary sponsor is Dr. Robert Bray and The DISC Sports and Spine Centre who have graciously helped fund their campaign. Jeffrey is the current United States Youth Match Racing Champion, current Governors Cup Champion, 2nd in the Youth World Match Racing Championship, as well as 2nd in the 2021 WMRT Ficker Cup which qualified him to sail in the 2021 Congressional Cup for the first time as the youngest skipper in the event, where Jeffrey and team took 5th place in their first appearance at the Congressional Cup. The team also took 4th place in the overall World Match Racing Tour 2021 championship leader board.
Jeffrey and team have experience match racing all types of boats and look to proudly represent the Balboa Yacht Club, the United States, and youth sailing this season.
